When it comes to making decisions, obedience comes into play when God reveals a particular path He wants us to follow. We have the privilege and responsibility of choosing to obey His direction. We also have the privilege and responsibility to pester Him to tell us what He wants.
But what about the choices where we can’t tell what He wants? You know, the “God I would obey if I only knew what You wanted” prayers. Perhaps what He wants is for us to use the wisdom and discernment He’s given us to make a selfless choice based on what we believe will honor Him the most. After all, as blessed as we are when our child obeys our command to clean their room, how much more blessed are we when they choose to clean their room without our command? Maybe God is seeking the greater blessing and giving us the chance to provide it.
